The Lilith Process

Reclaiming the Primal Self

The Myth: The First Exile

Lilith represents the part of the psyche that refuses to be subjugated. In her earliest myths, she was the Adam's first partner in Eden. She fled the Garden of Eden, not out of malice, but out of a demand for equality and utter sovereignty. She chose the wilderness over a "paradise" that required her to diminish her own power. She is the wild, un-socialized feminine, the part of us that remains untamed by cultural or familial expectations.

In the Psyche: The Shadow of Sovereignty

In the birth chart and the psyche, Lilith (often represented by the Black Moon) points to where we feel "too much" for the world. She is the site of our deepest exile and our most potent raw truth. Psychologically, she resides in the "red shadow"—the repressed instincts, the righteous rage, and the creative fire that we have been taught to fear. To meet Lilith is to stop apologizing for the intensity of your own existence.

In the Body: The Pulse of the Unseen

Lilith doesn't live in the mind; she lives in the soma, in the viscera.

When Lilith is granted somatic space, she transitions from a source of constriction into a wellspring of primal vitality and sovereign power. Conversely, when she is cramped or unconscious, her exiled energy manifests as physical bracing: a chronic binding of the nervous system that leads to body armoring, digestive stagnation, and deep-seated tension within the pelvis. To work with her is to move from the defensive posture of the suppressed self into the fluid, expansive strength of the embodied instinct.

In Session: Holding Space for the Wild

In our work together, holding space for Lilith means creating a "temple of the wilderness." We do not try to "fix" or "calm" her. We move toward the sensations, images, thoughts, emotions and even movements that feel "forbidden" or overwhelming. Using breath, sound, and intuitive movement we give the "Exiled Self" a voice. We develop new resources to sit with the discomfort of your power until it moves from a threat to an ally, shifting from the exhaustion of repression to the vitality of embodiment.
