In an Astrological Bodywork session we explore the archetypes alive in your body and psyche. We identify and learn how to support emergent archetypes asking for expression (the feminine, or the warrior). We also learn how to contain overactive archetypes. (such as the "Animus")
Astrological Approach
I first encountered astrology through the work of Carl Jung within my own 13+ years ongoing Jungian analysis.
When I approach the birth chart it is with great fascination for the mystery of psyche and this life we find ourselves living. I also ask: how can I be most useful to the client?
Through your birth chart, we catch a glimpse of all of the characters alive within your psyche. As we explore your chart we get to know these archetypal characters and the myths who embody them through the planets, signs and houses. I bring a depth psychology lens to chart reading, using a relational space to help connect you to your unique psychological gifts and challenges. Sometimes all we need to renew our faith in life is a mirror.
The birth chart captures a slice of time, the moment of our birth, whose pattern will slowly unwind itself over our lifetime. We meet at a particular moment in time, too, when something inside is calling to be connected to.
Jung worked with dreams as a mode of speaking to our unconscious, to connect to our soul. He was a student of medicine, mythology, psychology, alchemy and human potential. He was an empiricist, constantly testing methods, always with an eye on how exploring these worlds would be useful to his clients.
All of my favourite astrologers are incredibly widely read, for it is the domain of human culture and the foggy terrain of the inner world that interests them. Liz Greene is a Jungian analyst, scholar, and champion of a lineage of astrology informed by depth psychology. I have studied with Anne Whitaker, the brilliant Scottish astrologer, and the Centre for Psychological Astrology, founded by Liz Greene.
